On Monday 28th February I was able to compete in the Inter School Swimming sports in Cambridge.  When I first arrived I was so nervous.  I knew that there were other people that were just as good as me.  The first thing that came into my mind was Im going to come last but before I knew it we were there.  I wasn’t surprised by how many people were there then something was said over the loud speaker.  It was that the races were starting in the morning.  It was just heats.  Heat are where everyone has to come first or second to move onto the finals which in the afternoon.  The races I competed in where 50m Backstroke and 50m Butterfly.  When I lined up to start my first race I felt like I was dizzy, like I was going to faint.  “Take your marks”, oh no, the races were starting.  The races were underway.  Everyone started cheering for people that were racing except for no-one cheered for me because I was the only one from my school that went.  About ten meters away from the finish I started to get really tired, but I knew I had to keep going.  Yay! I had won it, I had come first.  When you come first you move onto the finals, which were held in the afternoon.  Then the same thing happened with the Butterfly.  I came first.  All I had to do was come second or third in the finals.  The afternoon finally came around and my backstroke and butterfly both made me shiver.  But in the end I came second in both.  The day wasn’t the best but I still enjoyed myself.  I saw some people that I know and some people that I have competed with before.  On the bright side I thought that it was a great experience.
